We are incredibly proud of one of our students who has an exciting ice skating career ahead of them.
Kara Baxter, Year 11 has competed in both figure and dance competitions this year and qualified for both the British Solos Dance Championships (held in June 2024) and also the British Figure Championships (held end of November 2024).
Kara did very well in Solo Dance in June 2024 at Advanced Novice level gaining a silver medal overall. In the British Figure Championships in November 2024 at Advanced Novice she finished 34th out of 40 girls.
In the new Solo Ice Dance season, Kara has started very well gaining a silver medal for Rhythm Dance and 4th Place for the free dance in the Qualifier competition in November 2024.
And this last weekend, Kara had the privilege to represent Great Britain in the Solo Ice Dance Competition held in Epinal France on 14/15th December at Junior level. In this international event Kara placed 10th in the Rhythm Dance and 12th in the Free Dance securing 12th place out of 28 overall.
As Kara has earned her place in both the figure and dance championships this year, she has been rewarded by British Ice Skating by being offered the opportunity to attend a performance camp held by the cast of Disney On Ice. This is ultimately the career path Kara would like to follow.
