Dear Parent/Carer

Wednesday 3rd November 2021, 5pm – 7pm

The post-16 Evening takes place this year on Wednesday 3rd November.  For this key event for year 11 students, we already have 25 confirmed representatives attending from local colleges, training providers, sixth form schools, universities, employers and apprenticeship providers.  This will give students the opportunity to visit the providers they are interested in and ask questions about the courses and opportunities they offer to post-16 students.  Mr Evans, our careers adviser, will also be attending the event.

We are aware that many students already have an idea of where they want to go when they leave us at the end of year 11.  However, this event offers each student the chance to research a wider range of post-16 opportunities.  Students can also look at the websites for each provider and college for the most up to date information regarding courses.  For those students interested in apprenticeships, information regarding availability and offers can be found on www.apprenticeships.gov.uk.

Some of the providers include: Toyota, NHS, Manor College, G 3 A Football Academy, Derby College including Broomhill campus, Ashfield Sixth Form, David Nieper, Swanick Hall Sixth Form, Ripley Academy Sixth Form, Bilborough College, Confetti College, Chesterfield College, University of Derby, Mansfield Education Hub, EMA training, DBC training, Learning Curve Group, Mansfield Town FC, Army, Navy, RAF, NCS, Keith Hall Hair, Bang Tidy Cleaning, Cross Fit Hexis, and DFS.

Uniform

As this is an opportunity for students to meet prospective further education providers and employers, we must stipulate that students should attend the evening in school uniform in order to make a good first impression and show a mature attitude towards their further education and employment prospects.  This is a great opportunity for parents/carers and students to join us for the evening for what is an extremely important event which, if possible should not be missed.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 3rd November 2021.

Yours sincerely

Mr Riley
