Dear Parents/Carers

In light of climbing temperatures we have taken the decision to also include Monday as a day for PE kit for pupils. To clarify the week will be as follows:
Monday – PE kit for pupils
Tuesday – PE kit for pupils
Wednesday – Non-uniform
Thursday – PE kit for pupils

  • As a school:
We will prioritise the use of rooms in school that are cooler/have effective blinds/working windows/air con.
We will ask site staff to open windows first thing in the morning to allow through drafts.
External PE or external practical activities will have cooling off stations and will be interspersed with cooling off time indoors.
Practical lessons involving the production of heat, e.g. science, technology will either be stopped or modified.
The use of lights and any unnecessary electrical equipment is to be reduced to a minimum.
We will provide guidance for teachers in relation to concentration levels of students and ask that curriculum content of lessons is relaxed accordingly.
At breaks and lunchtimes students will be advised to stay out of direct sunshine for prolonged periods.
We will encourage students to wear hats and sunscreen and to have water.
We will provide guidance to staff on the signs of heatstroke and ask staff to be vigilant for signs of these.
We will allow students to wear their PE uniform Monday and Tuesday are not non-uniform days.
We will ensure access to water throughout the day.
We will be selling ice pops.

Many thanks for your support
