As we enter this exciting and important stage of the academic year, I want to begin by expressing my sincere appreciation for your continued support of our Year 11 students. This is a special time for them — the culmination of five years of hard work at Frederick Gent, growth, and resilience — and it has been wonderful to see how positively they have approached their formal GCSE examinations. Year 11 have responded superbly to the exam process. They have arrived promptly and prepared each day, stayed late when required for external examinations, and used their social time productively to support revision. Their maturity and commitment have been evident throughout.

Attendance during this period remains absolutely essential. Students must attend school and all timetabled lessons until they are instructed otherwise. They should plan to remain in school for the entirety of the examination series, which runs until 15th June. Lessons during this time focus on targeted revision, preparation for upcoming papers, and ensuring students feel confident and supported. Missing these sessions can have a real impact on performance, so your support in maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality is greatly appreciated. This year’s exam contingency day is Monday 24th June, and all students must remain available up to and including this date. This is a national requirement set by the exam boards to allow for any rescheduled examinations should unforeseen circumstances arise.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating the end of Year 11 with Leavers Day on Tuesday 25th June. This will take place in school during the morning, including the customary leavers’ assembly and shirt signing, followed by the Year 11 Prom at Morley Hayes, with arrivals from 6:30pm. These events are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work, resilience, and achievements of our students throughout their time at Frederick Gent School.

All forthcoming GCSE exam dates can be found on our school website: https://www.frederickgent.ttct.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/11/Summer-GCSE-Exam-Timetable-2026.pdf

As we approach the end of their time with us, it is vital that students continue to meet our expectations. I have greatly enjoyed working with this year group and their families, and I want our time together to conclude positively. In particular, students are expected to remain in full school uniform until their final day in school. Consistency across the school is essential, and students who do not meet expectations will be sanctioned in line with our behaviour policy. We want our fantastic Year 11 students to finish their time at Frederick Gent School in the correct manner, setting a positive example to younger year groups and demonstrating the maturity we know they possess.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support. By working together, we can ensure that Year 11 complete their examinations feeling proud, prepared, and ready for the exciting opportunities ahead.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Your Sincerely

Mr Havill
